Migration of Symbols

There are endless symbols all over the world. But some of them are found in different parts of the world, so they cause some confusions about their origin. Did their appearance in different places are just co-incident, or were they transferred from one country to another? In the ancient world, there were many different routes for trading and traveling. And that influenced the religious ideas, art styles of the world.

Sometimes writers and artists traveled with the traders to communicate with another culture. Because of that, southeast Asia has Islam, Japan has Buddhism and South America speaks Portuguese. As the new culture and ideas were getting exchanged all over the world, so the symbols also. So many symbols also gained importance, even they are now so far from their origin. Like the Chinese Dragon. In China, it is a symbol of glory or an Emperor and the sun. But in European Christian art it’s opposite. Every modern culture has migrated some of its symbols from the ancient cultures. But the new technological world also pioneered many new and unique symbols. Also, many natural objects like the sun and moon have their own symbolism.
